The idea didn’t come from a client brief. It came from frustration.
We noticed that existing event platforms weren’t truly serving the Wirral community. Many included listings from Liverpool and surrounding areas, which diluted the local focus. Others were difficult to navigate, poorly structured or didn’t showcase the full range of events happening across the peninsula.
For local residents, this meant spending too much time searching for plans.
For local businesses and event organisers, it meant limited visibility and inconsistent exposure.
There was no single, reliable, easy-to-use platform dedicated solely to events happening on The Wirral.
And that gap mattered.
At Bold, we don’t just build websites, we build solutions. When we see a genuine need, we act. What’s On The Wirral is our proactive response to a real community problem.
This project was led and developed by our web developer, Michael, who saw first-hand how fragmented the local event landscape was.
From the outset, the vision was clear:
Michael built the platform from scratch with user experience at the heart of every decision. The layout is intuitive. The navigation is clear. Events are easy to search and browse without clutter or confusion.
But beyond functionality, this website reflects something deeper, care.
It wasn’t built as a quick project or a revenue-first platform. It was built thoughtfully, strategically and with the long-term goal of strengthening the local community.
We are currently pre-populating the website ahead of wider promotion to ensure it launches with strong, valuable content. Businesses can submit events for free, and we’re encouraging organisers to get involved early so the platform feels active and engaging from day one.
For businesses and organisers, visibility is everything.
Social media algorithms change constantly. Posts get buried. Event promotions often rely on a single platform and disappear within hours.
What’s On The Wirral provides something different.
It offers:
A dedicated local audience actively looking for events
A searchable platform beyond social media feeds
A focused, Wirral-only environment
Free event submission
Long-term visibility rather than temporary reach
Whether you’re hosting a networking event, a market, a live music night, a workshop, a community fundraiser or a seasonal promotion, this platform gives your event a proper home online.
It’s not about competing with social media. It’s about complementing it. Giving your event another channel of exposure in a space built specifically for local discovery.
For residents, the experience is simple: everything in one place.
No more jumping between Facebook groups.
No more checking multiple websites.
No more wondering whether an event is actually local.
If it’s listed on What’s On The Wirral, it’s happening locally and open to the public.
That clarity builds trust. And trust builds usage.
When discovering local events becomes easier, something powerful happens:
More people attend community events
Local businesses see increased footfall
Smaller organisers gain exposure
The local economy benefits
Community connection strengthens
Convenience drives participation. Participation strengthens community.
The long-term vision for What’s On The Wirral goes beyond listings.
This platform has the potential to become the go-to destination for local discovery, the first place people check when they’re planning their weekend or looking for something new to experience.
It supports:
Independent businesses
Creative organisers
Community groups
Hospitality venues
Local charities
By centralising event information, we reduce fragmentation and increase opportunity.
For Bold, this project also reflects who we are as an agency. We don’t just work with businesses, we’re part of this community. We understand the importance of supporting local growth, visibility, and collaboration.
This website is a digital infrastructure piece for The Wirral. And we’re proud to have built it.
What’s On The Wirral is just getting started.
As more events are added and more residents begin using it, its value will grow. The strength of the platform will come from community involvement, businesses submitting their events, residents sharing it and organisers recognising it as a trusted space.
We encourage any local business or event organiser with something upcoming to submit their event. It’s free, simple and built for your benefit.
And if you’re looking for something to do this weekend?
Start there.
Because The Wirral has more happening than you think, and now, finally, it has a platform that showcases it properly.
