Hi everyone! I’m Kate, Bold Online Marketing’s new Apprentice. I have officially been a member of the Bold team for a month now, and I have honestly loved my experience so far.
I just wanted to share a little bit about my first month here, so you can understand why I’ve enjoyed it so much!
ABOUT ME
In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic completely changed everyone’s lives. For me, this was the year I was completing my A levels in Business, Maths and Biology. From studying at home on zoom, to missing events such as prom and my first ‘girls holiday’, it completely turned my life around.
I was never the type of girl who was interested in going to Uni, funnily enough it was a school trip to a University that actually put me off! So it was clear that an Apprenticeship was definitely for me, I just didn’t know what I wanted to do an apprenticeship in.
It was only when I helped my best friend and another family friend with their business’ social media platforms that I became interested in Digital Marketing. I loved doing their social media so much that I thought – why not make it into a career? So that’s exactly what I did.
THE OFFICE ENVIRONMENT
I had never been in an office environment when I started at Bold. Admittedly I was worried that I mightn’t like it, as I’d only ever worked in a retail store where I worked with my friends every day.
Now I can’t speak for other office jobs, but I absolutely love working at Bold! From the daily office laughter to the constant support I get, I just can’t fault it.
The Bold member I was most nervous to meet was definitely the CEO – Pierre the French Bulldog! Having him in the office is so much fun, especially when he pokes his head in throughout the day to check we’re all still working!
Admittedly, getting my own Bold email address and Bold signature has been one of my most exciting moments from this month (as sad as that is). At that moment it really sunk in that I was officially part of Bold!
However, my other (human) team members of Bold have been what’s made my first month so enjoyable. They have been so welcoming and helpful, I felt settled in at the start of week 2. I cannot thank them enough for that!
MY WORK SO FAR
Work-wise, my first month has consisted of mainly social media content. I have been working a lot with Canva to create posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. I spend a lot of my time finding new and creative ideas for posts; as well as learning how to make a sticker for Instagram stories!
I have also been doing a few blogs for different clients, which has been interesting, to say the least! When you work for an agency rather than in-house, the variety of content you create is so broad. From blogging for an adult toy company to a stairlift comparison site – you can’t get much more diverse than that!
Getting the chance to dive into different brands that have their individual online personalities has been very interesting. Every day for me has been different, and that’s what I’ve loved the most!
THE APPRENTICE SIDE
Every week, my Fridays consist of working from home and doing e-learning with Apprentify. The Apprenticeship side of everything has been just as good as the work-life!
So far in my first month, I have learned the basic marketing principles, including SEO, email marketing, social media, and pay-per-click. As well as this, I have learned how to write a blog, which is how I’ve created the one you’re reading right now!
Every month we will be learning via a virtual classroom at least once a month with my development coach – shoutout to you, Ellis! I can’t wait to get started with these and to put what I learn into practice.
IS IT WHAT I EXPECTED?
I knew I would enjoy my first month as a Digital Marketing Apprentice because it’s the start of my new career. As cliché as it sounds, it has actually exceeded my expectations!
I feel so lucky to have received this opportunity with Bold Online Marketing and Apprentify. I am so excited for the next month of my apprenticeship and can’t wait to see what my future holds at Bold!
